The Consumer's Guide To Using Certified EVOO

by Mattie Knight

There are many consumers who think of food when olive oil comes to mind. This is especially true of certified EVOO which is known for its many heart healthy benefits and antioxidants. Yet, there is so much more to this valuable oil than one can imagine. Here is a look at the many ways, including cooking, in which olive oil can be useful.

In cooking, olive oil is used in sauces, baking, and various kinds of salad dressing including mayonnaise. However, there are some individuals who might not like the strong taste of certain brands and might decide to go with a lighter tasting oil. In this case they might be sacrificing the purity of content for something that is less valuable and extra virgin olive is the purer oil.

As a result, they might choose to use a lighter version, but the antioxidants and other health benefits are in the cold pressed oils. For some individuals, this also means that it is a good oil to cook with, but there are those who disagree with this. So the average person will have to decide for themselves if they will cook with olive oil or use it raw.

To save money on beauty products, olive oil can replace a face moisturizer or even body lotion. There are some who use it in their hair as well as a conditioner for the scalp. This can replace a store bought conditioner for certain individuals since it can be used to seal the moisture that is in the hair after washing.

Olive oil can also be used on the lips as is or in the form of a lip balm made with the oil and beeswax. This is not only a good way to save money but also to know what is being applied to the body. Olive oil has Vitamin E and antioxidants which means that the body will be healthier as a result of using these products on the body.

If one has a lamp, they can use olive oil to light it instead if they run out of kerosene. Olive oil has been used to light lamps for centuries, and there are many people today who still use this form of light. One can purchase a kit to make their own lamp or they can buy it ready made from stores that sell these types of lamps.

A person can also use the oil to shine stainless steel and polish wooden furniture. It can also be used to shine shoes and boots made of leather including boots, belts, and other items that not only need to be shined but waterproofed. Olive oil can also be used in the food of pets like cats and dogs to keep them healthy and give their coats a nice sheen.

Consumers are always looking for ways to save money and use a minimum amount products if they can get the same results with one. The use of olive oil does not eliminate the need for other products that are needed in the home. However, the knowledge of how it can be used gives a person more options to choose from when the need arises.
