Choosing Redondo Beach Seafood Restaurants
by Helene Norris
Being able to spend time with someone special in a serene atmosphere should not involve a travel agent or driving out to a remote area. Anyone who lives in the Los Angeles area will find nice places just minutes away. If they are close to the South Bay area, they will find Redondo Beach seafood restaurants to be a nice treat without a lot of hassle.
Close to the 405 freeway, the city of Redondo Beach has a lot to offer in terms of fine shops and restaurants. Many small eateries along Artesia Boulevard and inside the South Bay Galleria serve seafood for lunch and dinner. However, anyone that visits the Pier has hit the seafood jackpot, as it is right on the ocean.
Directly on the ocean just east of PCH, there is a wide range of restaurants that a person can choose from that serve mouthwatering dishes. Along the Pier are places that prepare quick foods like fish tacos, shrimp skewers, and other appetizers like crab cakes. At many of these places, the fish is freshly caught, there are many varieties, and is inexpensive.
There are also a few casual sit down eateries that are inexpensive and offer ocean views. Some of these have comedy or karaoke. Though this does not happen until dark, many of these places have fresh meals that range from the classics like clam chowder to unusual dishes prepared by award-winning chefs. Many places request that guests have covered feet and a shirt in order to get food service.
A standby like Old Tony's on the Pier is considered the ultimate in seafood. Often it is crowded and it may be best to make reservations on holidays and weekends. They serve classic appetizers, wonderful entrees and a cocktail menu that offers creative selections. There are also regular performers that perform live.
There are also chain restaurants like Cheesecake Factory and Joe's Crab Shack that have many tasty offerings in a comfortable atmosphere. In recent, a number of sushi restaurants and bars have karaoke performances. For some, these and the comedy shows are tied with food when it comes to preference.
Anyone who comes to the Pier should be prepared for parking. There is underground parking, which is protected as well as highly recommended for anyone staying for more than a couple of hours or visiting in the later hours. Some restaurants north of the Pier offer valet parking, which is often validated by the restaurant with minimal purchase. There is also metered parking as well as street parking, which can be a little risky and requires a bit of walking.
Whether a person is visiting the Pier or any other Redondo Beach attractions, there are sure to have an adventure. While not as crowded as the Westside or distant as the south beaches, this area offers ease while driving as well as interacting with the local culture.
